An exclusive interview with C. Wayne Winkle
Where do you live?
A small city in the upper South
Where can fans write to you?
What inspired your writing?
Over a number of years working as a family psychologist, I grew to understand that many parents didn't know what to do to raise responsible children. The majority of books available on parenting are too narrow in scope or just promote one person's approach to parenting, so I decided to put a book together that could answer a lot of basic parenting questions.
What's a typical writer's day like?
Right now, I'm still keeping my "day job", so I spend time after work, on weekends, and holidays working on manuscripts. The difficulty comes in juggling time writing and time with my family, which now includes two grandchildren who (happily) complicate my life.
Tell us about your family.
My wife and I are enjoying the empty nest. Both of our daughters are married and each one presented us with a grandchild (only six months apart). I now understand what was meant when someone said, "If I knew how much fun grandchildren are, I'd've had them first."
Do you have pets?
A dog and two cats reside in our house. Or maybe I should say they let us live in their house.
What are your hobbies?
Like most good writers ( :-) ), I read voraciously. All kinds of books. Usually one or two a week, along with newspapers and lots of professional reading. I love to fish, hunt, hike, camp, and go with my wife almost anywhere.
What do you do in your leisure time?
All of the above.
Who is your favorite author?
My favorite author? Several. Louis L'Amour, John Grisham, Stephen White, Stuart Woods, among many others.
What's your favorite book?
My favorite book is the Bible. It's full of good stuff for everyone and keeps me going all of the time.
What's your favorite movie?
I'm not much of a movie fan.
What's your favorite place?
New Orleans and Santa Fe, not necessarily in that order.
What place, that you haven't already visited, would you like to visit?
I'd love to go into outer space.
What kind of music do you enjoy?
My taste in music varies with my moods.
What are your future goals?
My goal at this point is to write a best selling novel in the next five years.
